The W.Va. Department of Health and Human Resources reported 3 more coronavirus-related deaths on Thursday, September 10. In comments posted on the DHHR website, Cabinet Secretary Bill J. Crouch had this to say: “We take the reporting of these tragic deaths very seriously and extend our deepest sympathies to the loved ones.” All three reported deaths were residents of Kanawha county. Those confirmed to be deceased on Thursday were an 80-year old male, an 88-year old male and a 90-year old female.

With the addition of those announced on Thursday, the state has now reported 257 deaths related to COVID-19. W.Va. health officials have conducted 467,526 total tests since the onset of the pandemic, and 209 new cases have been identified within the last 24-hours.

West Virginia’s cumulative positivity-rate continues to climb, and is now at 2.57%. However, at 5.18%, the daily positivity-rate is down more than 2% from the previous day. West Virginia has identified 12,017 confirmed cases of COVID-19. 2,856 of those cases are currently active, and 8,904 individuals have recovered.
