SUMMERS COUNTY W.Va. (Hinton News) — A 5-month-old hound mix named Jasper is taking center stage as the Hinton News “Dog of the Week.”

Weighing approximately 35 pounds, Jasper is described by shelter staff as a versatile companion who balances high-energy play with a calm, affectionate demeanor.

According to the staff, Jasper has already mastered several foundational behaviors often sought by adopters, including being both crate-trained and house-trained. The young pup has also shown strong social compatibility; shelter records indicate he is friendly toward other dogs, cats, and children.

“He’s got the perfect mix of playful puppy energy and snuggly cuddle bug vibes,” the shelter stated, noting that Jasper enjoys exploring before settling down for what staff calls “professional” cuddling.

As the featured pet of the week, Jasper is highlighted as a candidate who can adapt quickly to most loving environments. Prospective adopters or those interested in meeting him are encouraged to contact the Summers County Humane Society-ACWP for more information on the adoption process.
