HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) – The Hinton Police Department released the following information regarding an incident that happened on Dec. 16:
The Hinton Police Department is releasing information regarding an incident that occurred on December 16, 2025.
At approximately 5:00 a.m., officers responded to reports of a drive-by shooting in the area of Westend/14th Ave and Temple Street. A vehicle discharged multiple rounds while traveling through the area. No injuries were reported. Property damage was reported to a single residence located between 14th and 15th Avenue on Temple. Officers secured the scene and determined there was no immediate threat to public safety.
During the investigation Gary Wilson was identified as the primary suspect and taken into custody. At approximately 6:00 p.m., Gary Wilson fled from police custody in the area of the Avis/Hinton Police Department. Mr. Wilson is considered a fugitive and is actively wanted by law enforcement on charges of wanton endangerment and attempted commission of a felony.
Officers immediately initiated a search, and the incident remains under investigation.
Mr. Wilson is a 5’11 black male who was last seen wearing a dark grey carhart shirt, camo pants and brown boots and weighs around 150lbs.
