GASSAWAY W.Va. (WVDN) – Mountaineer Food Bank is honored to announce the receipt of a $2,000 grant from the Hinton Area Foundation. This grant will directly support the Veterans Table Program, which is dedicated to ensuring food security for military veterans and their families.

West Virginia has a long history of men and women who have bravely served our country. Despite their sacrifices, many of our veterans face the harsh reality of not knowing where their next meal will come from. The Mountaineer Food Bank is dedicated to helping these veterans through our Veterans Table Program, which provides monthly food boxes filled with nourishing and nutritious foods. These boxes include a variety of shelf-stable items as well as fresh produce, protein, and dairy products, ensuring that veterans receive the balanced nutrition they need.

“Too many veterans in our communities face food insecurity after giving so much in service to our country,” said Chad Morrison, CEO of Mountaineer Food Bank. “This grant allows us to deepen our commitment to ensuring no veteran goes hungry and receives the support and respect they deserve.”

The Veterans Table Program currently serves 1,400 veterans across West Virginia each month. These funds will help fortify our commitment and strengthen our partnership with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) to reach more homebound veterans, delivering food directly to their doors.
