BECKLEY W.Va. (Hinton News) – For nearly eight decades, the Christian Bookstore in Beckley has been a beloved fixture in the local community, offering a wide range of spiritual resources, books and gifts. Founded in 1948, as old as the country of Israel, the store started as a small family owned business with a mission to provide affordable Christian literature and supplies to the people of southern West Virginia. This family has been able to stand the test of time.

Over many decades, the Christian Bookstore has become a cornerstone of the Beckley area, helping 800 churches in the area spread their message. The store has been family owned and operated by the current owners for nearly 30 years.

The store’s community outreach contributions provide resources to churches and ministries. They offer a selection of books, inspirational music and gifts for faith-based needs. The store plays an important role in supporting local churches, ministries and individuals seeking to deepen their faith. While it has expanded its offerings and embraced the digital age with a Facebook account and website, the store remains rooted in the values of personalized service and community connection.

With an extensive selection of items, it has become a go-to resource for those seeking inspiration and guidance through a variety of faith-based products. Whether for personal use, church programs or special life events such as baptisms and weddings, the store remains a trusted source.

Beyond its role as a retail shop, the Christian Bookstore has served as a gathering space for the community. Local churches regularly turn to the store for needed supplies. For countless families, the bookstore has been a place to build traditions, purchase meaningful gifts and find resources that support their spiritual journey.

Throughout its long history, the store has managed to stay true to its mission, despite the challenges that face many small businesses. Its commitment to customer service, combined with strong ties to the Beckley community, has helped the bookstore thrive. Many of the staff members have been with the store for years, and they pride themselves on knowing customers by name and helping strangers find the perfect item.

Looking ahead, the Christian Bookstore plans to continue offering high-quality products while keeping pace with modern trends. The store has embraced online sales and maintains an active presence on social media, allowing it to reach more customers while preserving the personal touch as a hallmark of the business.

As the bookstore celebrates its 77th year, it remains a living testament to the strength of faith, family and community. With a focus on nurturing spiritual growth, the store is poised to continue its mission for years to come by bringing inspiration to the people of Beckley and beyond. The owners of the bookstore would like to say they “are very thankful to the good Lord and our local shoppers and churches,” as they continue their mission to assist the community.

For more information on the history or to explore the store’s offerings, visit the Christian Bookstore’s website or follow them on Facebook.
