ALDERSON W.Va. (Hinton News) – On August 23, 2023, a well-known auto shop in Alderson sent its final invoice. Two years later, almost exactly to the date, the shop reopened on August 26, 2025.

“I started this business as a coal miner,” owner Brandon Burgess said. “I’d work on tires and vehicle repairs in the evening after work. When COVID happened and I got laid off in the mines, we opened full-time and did really well.”

After nearly 5 years in business, the shop closed due to a staffing shortage. “The guy that I was working with here at the shop needed a knee replacement and I had another business,” Burgess said. “We idled the tire shop and finally got enough people to run the other business because I couldn’t manage both myself.” Now back in business, B&E Tire & Repair hopes to continue providing service to the community it calls home.

“Brandon has been my mechanic for the last 5 years,” says longtime customer Winston Buckridee. “We’re originally from New Jersey, and our standard of service is very high.” Inspired by their customers’ unwavering support, B&E Tire & Repair reopened due to customer demand. “Everyone used to say we miss you having a tire shop,” Burgess recalls. “For our returning customers, I believe honesty and atmosphere brings them back. For new people, it’s the price.”

When it comes to a repair shop, customer experience and word-of-mouth are essential for success. “I’ve always had excellent service there,” says Butch LeGrand. “I think their character is outstanding, and that’s always meant a lot to me. They go above and beyond what they need to do to satisfy a customer, and I’ve never had any issues at all.”

In addition to tire sales, B&E Tire & Repair offers oil changes, suspension, and general automotive repair. While appointments are preferred, there are days when walk-ins are welcome. “As a family-run and operated business, we try to offer affordable prices and do good work as best we can,” says Burgess. “We try to make sure we’re reasonable and fair with everyone. We will come and pick up a vehicle or take people home – we do stuff like that in the surrounding area.”

For Sheena Pendley and her husband, choosing the right auto shop plays a crucial role in the success of their business. “My husband and I are both photographers, so we’re on the road a lot,” she said. “Brandon keeps our cars going. He always does a fantastic job, and his prices are always great.”

In closing, Burgess extends a heartfelt thanks to both his returning customers and those who are yet to come. “My family and I are very grateful for all the support that we’ve had – then and now,” he said. “We’ve only been open a month, so people are still finding out. We hope to serve our customers for as long as needed.”

B&E Tire & Repair is located on 170 Elmwood Avenue in Alderson. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and every other Saturday by appointment.
