Celebration of student achievements by Hinton Area Foundation

HINTON, (Hinton News) – Hinton Area Foundation’s Executive Director Scott Jarrett welcomed proud parents, grandparents, and guests in attendance to celebrate the achievements of 47 local scholars’ achievements. Over one hundred gathered at the historic Freight Depot in Hinton on May 23, 2023, and applauded the accomplishments of high school students and post-secondary students. As they enjoyed a delicious meal catered by Sarah Gleason of Lucky Rivers, all viewed a video presentation of each scholar recipient’s awards and concluded with photographs of recipients with those donors present.

We are proud of these students’ commitment to community and applaud their aspirations. One hundred and four awards totaling $129,740.00 were presented to local students:

Campaign 2000 Scholarship Fund – Abigail Lester, Ashton Basham, Ellie Rhodes, and Emily Cox $1000 each                                                   

Ann Gore Scholarship Fund – Abbie Keaton $500

CHPR Gwinn Family Scholarship Fund – Baylee Bentley, Morgan Meador $2000 each

Bill Van Sant Scholarship Fund – Emily Cox $1500

SC KIDS Fine Arts Scholarship – Marissa Ruff $1000, Chloe Lester, Sullivan Pivont, Sarah Turner $300 each

Joyce Jarrell Memorial Scholarship Fund – Zachary Bowling, Lauren Pack, Gavin Pivont, Hallie Rodes $1300 each

Kiwanis Club of Hinton Scholarship – Jordan Rutherford, Emily Cox, Emily N. Richmond, Sarah Turner, Hallie Rodes $500 each

Amanda Bennett, Karsynn Davis, Harley Ward, Ashley Cooper, Katelyn Martin, Emily R. Richmond, Hanna Payne $250 each

Dr. J.W. Stokes/Rotary Scholarship Fund – Liv Meador, Sonny Whitt $1500 each
