Summers County Comprehensive High School has a new practice facility that will be utilized by multiple sports teams. Construction of the building began a few years ago; however, it recently saw completion with the help of COVID-19 funds from the federal government.
The facility is now occupied mainly by the baseball and archery teams. There are currently batting cages and archery targets set up. However, the building can also be used as a practice facility for other sports teams.
Principal Al Hudgins posted to the school’s live feed on their website about the facility and said, “Summers County student-athletes in baseball, softball, archery, football and more will benefit from our sports complex. #bobcatpride”
The completion of this practice facility allows for more teams to be able to practice at once. Previously, the middle school volleyball, middle school basketball, and all archery teams shared the Perry Memorial Gym on Temple Street. Now, archery can practice in the new facility.
The sports complex is located at the Summers County Comprehensive High School campus. It is between the football and baseball fields.
