Union – Everyone is invited to attend Narcan training at the Monroe County Adult Education in the Monroe County Public Library basement on Tuesday, Aug. 31. There will be sessions occurring every 30 minutes between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Marlinton – The town of Marlinton’s First Friday event will take place on Friday, Sept. 3 with a few changes due to the rise in COVID-19 cases. There will not be food vendors present and there will be fewer hands-on kids events. There will be masks available as well as hand sanitizing stations. An announcement from Discovery Junction also asks that anyone feeling unwell or who has been traveling not attend the event.
Ronceverte – On Friday, Aug. 27, the city of Ronceverte announced that water customers on the main take will have the water turned off between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They noted that not all customers will lose water. A tanker with drinkable water is available in the lot across from Tri-County Produce. Customers will need to bring their own container.
Rainelle – The town of Rainelle is holding a Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 4 beginning at 7 p.m. The event is being held at the Rainelle Town Hall.
Alderson – The Alderson Public Library and Fritz’s Pharmacy in Alderson both have new hours of operation. Starting Sept. 6, the pharmacy’s hours will be Monday through Friday 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Beginning on Sept. 13, the library’s hours will be Monday 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., closed on Sunday.
