Spring has sprung at the Summers County Public Library. New events and programs are taking off and there is still time to get involved. From fun events for kids to adult education, the library has something for everyone!
The Summers County Library staff are preparing for a day filled with mystery and intrigue on May 29. According to Special Programs Coordinator Kristina Kellen, they are hosting an event called Mystery in Wonderland. During the event, participants will get to enjoy a delicious brunch before they set to work trying to solve the mystery of “why we’re all mad here.” These words, first spoken by the infamous Mad Hatter of Wonderland are often a go-to quote from Lewis Carrol’s Alice in Wonderland. Do you have what it takes to solve the mystery?
Mystery in Wonderland will be held at Hinton City Park, which is located across the street from Big Four Drugstore. The fun begins at 11a.m. on Saturday, May 29.
While this event is free to attend, space is limited. Because of this, participants must reserve a space by calling the library. Reservations began on Monday, May 10. To reserve a spot for the event, call 304-466-4490. For more information check out the library’s Facebook page (Summers County Public Library) and the Facebook event page (Mystery in Wonderland).
In addition to this fun-filled children’s event, there are also adult education programs taking place. The Summers County Adult Education Program will begin hosting the high school equivalency test on May 12. For more information on how to register, call the library at 304-466-4490 and ask for Jared or Missy.
Online tutoring is also still available daily between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. To use this service, go to www.tutor.com/summerscpl. Once access to the site is complete, users will need to log in with their library card. If someone needs a library card, call today to get the process started — it’s free!
